TRMC Board Meeting Update, May 5, 2022
In the most recent Titus County Hospital District Board of Managers (the “Board”) regular monthly meeting, the Board appointed Dr. Milan Sekulic as the inaugural Chief Physician Executive for The Clinics of Titus (TCOT). In his new role, he will continue to see patients at the Heart & Vascular Institute at Titus and will lead the physicians of TCOT in the development of system-wide strategic, quality, clinical excellence, and patient experience initiatives.
Dr. Sekulic has practiced at Titus Regional Medical Center (TRMC) since 2005. He attended medical school at the Loma Linda University School of Medicine in California with his residency at Kettering Medical Center in Ohio along with his Cardiovascular Fellowship at Providence Health System. Dr. Sekulic is Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease, Adult Echocardiography and Nuclear Cardiology. He has served two times as TRMC Chief of Staff and currently serves on Medical Quality, Patient Safety and Risk Management committee and the Medical Staff Bylaws committee.
TCOT is comprised of eleven physician practices: Advanced Urology Institute of Titus, Center for Pain Management at Titus, Community Care Center, Family Care Center – Mt. Pleasant, Family Care Center – Harts Bluff, Family Care Center – Daingerfield, Heart & Vascular Institute at Titus, Nephrology & Family Practice at Titus, Neurology Center at Titus, Orthopedic & Sports Medicine at Titus, and the Surgery Associates at Titus.
Dr. Sekulic will serve on The Clinics of Titus Board of Directors with members appointed in the previous monthly meeting: Andy Fortenberry, Dr. Jay Cannon, Dr. Craig DeLisi, Dr. Michael Pappas, Dr. Steve Sigal, Dr. Lance Walsh, Patty Boeckmann, Jaime Mitchell and Terry Scoggin.
In other business, the Board approved TRMC’s mission, vision and values which will be an integral part of the upcoming strategic plan initiative. The Board also recognized the significant accomplishments in the most recent accreditation survey for Maternal Services designation of the Labor & Delivery Department of TRMC. Dr. Chris Mason, CheyAnne Harris and Michelle Shumate updated the Board on the health system’s initiatives related to maternal services including detailed statistics on our region’s health risks and conditions. TRMC delivers more than 950 babies a year with mothers choosing our physicians and hospital for their delivery from more than sixty (60) miles away. The metrics obtained and the initiatives completed by the physicians, nurses and clinical staff at TRMC earned them the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) Texas Levels of Maternal Care Quality Award for Quarter 2 of 2022 given for exemplary clinical, collaborative, and quality maternal care.
