Board of Managers Monthly Update – March
The Titus County Hospital District Board of Managers met on March 25th for the regularly scheduled monthly meeting. The meeting was officially opened in prayer by Board Member Tony Rundles, pastor at Greater Hope Church of God in Christ in Mount Pleasant.
CEO Terry Scoggin recognized Jaime Heart, Mia Rundles, Nichole Quezada and Regenia Nabors for their work with postpartum mothers in OUR community. The team has been recognized by the Texas Collaborative for Healthy Mothers and Babies with the Gold Award for their Recognition and Response to Postpartum Preeclampsia in the Emergency Department. Titus Regional Medical Center (TRMC) was one of only five hospitals in the state to earn this recognition. The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) is focused on mothers with hypertension. The team believes the identification of these mothers through our Emergency Department and clinics are key to improving health and saving lives of postpartum mothers. Chief Nursing Officer, Kathy Griffis, shared “when I became CNO in 2020, this team of nurses expressed the desire to improve safety of new mothers in OUR community. A lot of work has been done to improve care and I applaud their exceptional work.”
The Leapfrog Group, an organization dedicated to collecting, analyzing and recognizing hospitals for safety and quality in order to push the health care industry forward, has awarded TRMC the distinguished “Leader in Caring for People Living with Diabetes” award. This award in partnership with the American Diabetes Association is a new recognition, with TRMC one of the first year’s recipients. Only seventeen hospitals nationwide, and three in the state of Texas made the mark and the board was happy to honor the team leading this effort on Monday night at the meeting. Christina Graham, Melody Burt, and Nicki Magee were in attendance and shared what this award means to our hospital and community. With over 30% of the patient population living with diabetes, which affects care and healing for every other diagnosis these patients experience, this level of care is critical for OUR community. Christina Graham, Diabetic Educator, pulled together a team to meet weekly, review the data and applied for the award. This work allowed the team to add additional polices to our already robust program that helps to better manage this complex disease.
Brandon Durbin presented the Titus County Hospital District audited fiscal 2023 financial statements to the Board of Managers for approval. The financials received an unmodified (“clean”) opinion with no reportable matters noted within internal controls. The hospital also received an unmodified opinion on the Single Audit conducted related to grant and federal funds received. Brandon reviewed key ratios comparing the hospital district to other rural hospitals throughout the state and updated the Board on current legislative matters impacting rural reimbursements throughout the upcoming years. The Board of Managers approved the financials statements for fiscal 2023.
